FEDERAL AGENCIES USE KION TO
Vend preconfigured cloud accounts aligned to your ideal security and governance posture and provide seamless, self-service. Manage and control cloud access and permissions across your organization.
View and track spend against O&M, RDT&E and contract budgets that can span across multiple years and attribute costs back to cost centers. Receive notifications and automatically enforce budgets to stop spending when thresholds are exceeded or other conditions are met.
Implement policy-driven guardrails to ensure all accounts for every team are secure and compliant by default. With Kion, every team’s cloud usage aligns with frameworks like NIST 800-53, DHS CDM, FISMA and NIST 800-171, all managed through a unified platform.
Kion offers full functionality across all regions, fabrics, and impact levels. Enjoy consistent capabilities and user experience across AWS Commercial, AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, and Secret and Top Secret.
Kion is self-hosted by our agency customers, not cloud-based SaaS hosted outside the agency’s environment. This allows Kion to meet more stringent security requirements, including those exceeding the FedRAMP moderate and high security baselines. Kion's deployment can run on top of hardened machine images as well as in cloud-native container services like Amazon Fargate. As such, Kion does not require FedRAMP authorization by a third-party assessment organization (3PAO) for our Federal Agency customers to receive Authority to Operate (ATO).
Dozens of federal customers and affiliated entities have obtained an ATO for Kion through the traditional NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) ATO process, as defined by their Authorizing Official (AO) or Certificate to Field (CTF) process within their agency, just as they would for any other self-hosted software. Kion is typically added as a system within a customer’s existing General Support System (GSS) ATO package and enhances the security controls enforceable by the agency. Our team keeps an up-to-date matrix of controls satisfied by Kion to streamline the ATO process for our customers within our support center.
Kion is available on AWS Marketplace (incl GovCloud & Intel Community) and Azure Marketplace and can also be procured through many Governmentwide Acquisition Contracts (GWACs) through our partners like GSA IT Schedule 70, NASA SEWP, NITAAC CIO CS, and many others. Please reach out to us for a tailored contracting solution.
“By implementing Kion, NASA can satisfy more diverse mission requirements and have a more scalable approach to overcome some of the resource bottlenecks facing the expansion of data and users.”
