Our session with Saint Louis University: Re-architecting the Cloud with Guardrails

When: Tuesday, March 5, 4:10 PM - 4:50 PM CT

Where: TBA

Join us for an insightful session on Saint Louis University's cloud journey. The cloud journey at Saint Louis University started in 2020 with one team member, an immediate need to build out two cloud workloads, and the promise of a simplified front end to the cloud provided by an external cloud support contract. Over the next two years, their staffing remained the same as they added more production workloads and many proof of concepts. However, there was mounting frustration with the pace of new workflow development, the limitations of their SaaS front-end for management, and the need to re-architect existing workflows due to inefficient or poor design. Add on feedback from central IT regarding perceived security issues and they knew they had to reassess their cloud growth trajectory. To solve these challenges – and support the growth of the University’s production workflows – they pivoted their approach to introduce more automation and move to a guardrail concept for security and financial management. In this presentation, you will learn how Saint Louis University: implemented Kion for automation and guardrails, how they've crafted regulatory-compliant workspaces to support research needs, and details on their integration with the University’s SSO.

  • The Kion team exhibited at the 2023 EDUCAUSE Annual Conference alongside the University of Oregon. Our VP of Delivery and Support, Randy Shore, and Christy Long, the Associate CIO for Technology Infrastructure and Chief of Staff at the University of Oregon presented, "Building Trust and Value: Our Mission-Driven Cloud Journey." Here they discussed Oregon's cloud journey, cloud challenges in higher ed, and how the collaboration between the University of Oregon and Kion is a prime example of how cloud technology can revolutionize education.
  • The biggest barrier to successful cloud adoption is often trust. Catch the recap of our webinar with Texas A&M, "Enabling Cloud Confidence: How to Build Trust When Moving to the Cloud in Higher Education and State Government." Our VP of Product, Shane Quinlan, and Andrew Marcontell, Executive Director of Solutions Engineering at Texas A&M break down how to overcome challenges in the cloud to build solutions that serve citizens and students cost-effectively and securely - while delivering value to their cloud project teams.
