cloudtamer.io is ringing in the spring season with our new 2.17 release. This release is rich in new features to monitor system diagnostics, expand reporting, enhance automation, and more. Read on to learn more, and be sure to get the full report in the Support Center.

Stay on top of system diagnostics

Attention all designated problem-solvers: this one’s for you! We added new pages for system diagnostics, allowing you to run tests on the fly or schedule automatic tests.

You can now monitor the status of microservices and trigger ad hoc syncs to ensure everything is running smoothly. You can also troubleshoot inaccessible accounts and verify that billing info is up to date. For a wide variety of issues you might encounter, the diagnostics section has you covered.

We also added a new settings page for the system diagnostics. This allows you to configure the frequency of automated tests and notifications. You can choose which users and user groups receive notifications/emails for any issues. That way, all the problem-solvers in your organization are kept in the loop!

Drill down further on reports

We understand that you want to know where your funds are going. To help with this, we added the ability to drill down on resource-level spend for a month using tag keys/names and tag values. This gives you greater visibility into your OU and project spend for specific tags. You can use it to see the exact spend for each resource where a specific tag name or value is used.

For example, we can go beyond seeing the monthly spend where the "department" tag value is "sales." We can drill down into January 2020 and view the resource-level line items for that month, as shown below.

We also made it possible to click on bars in the spend report graphs to see detailed spend data for services and tags, making it easier to navigate to those spending drill-downs straight from the bar chart.

Use SNS to streamline automation

We added the ability to send a notification via the AWS Simple Notification Service (SNS) after the CloudFormation Templates (CFTs) application process completes. This allows you to trigger advanced automation after CFTs apply without waiting around to start things manually.

Learn more about using SNS.

Save time by sharing tags

You can now sync tags for shared Amazon Machine Images (AMIs). This allows you to apply tags in the source account to the account to which the AMI was shared, providing accurate tagging from the source without duplicating effort.

Keep things current by archiving

We added the ability to archive OUs that you no longer need, keeping them visible but preventing users from attaching other OUs or projects. This keeps your OU list relevant and keeps your users from attaching projects and child OUs to an OU that is no longer in use.

Change of plans? No problem

Plans change. We get it! So we increased flexibility by allowing users to change a spend plan after payments have been made. This means that spending from a funding source can be reallocated to a new funding source even after the payments were processed.

And the list goes on!
