We just released version 2.28, and we can't wait for you to see the BIG changes we've made. As soon as you upgrade, you'll notice a difference: we've transformed the landing page into a custom personal dashboard!

Sound intriguing? Read on to learn about the new cloudtamer.io dashboard, along with many other changes we made in 2.28!

For Everyone

Build Your Own cloudtamer.io Dashboard

From spending to compliance to quick cloud access, you can now choose and customize the metrics, info, and links you want to show on the cloudtamer.io landing page. This gives you easy access to the stuff you care about most. The contents of a cloudtamer.io dashboard are unique to each login, so every user can choose their own must-see data. Plus, the spend-related summary cards include multiple views to slice and dice your data how you want.

Here's just one way you could build your dashboard:

build your own cloud monitoring dashboard

Summary Cards

You can add any of the following summary cards to your dashboard:

  • Spending (with "lifetime spend" and "spending this month" views)
  • Favorites (with "spending this month" and "compliance" views for both)
  • Compliance Score
  • Quick Cloud Access
  • Organization Chart Quick Access
  • Activity Feed
  • Cloud Rules
  • Unread Notifications

As always, users can only see the objects, activities, and resources to which they have access. This means users get the information they need while admins maintain the permissions they've set within cloudtamer.io.

At-A-Glance Status Checks

We include many tools across the dashboard to see what needs your attention most urgently. Aside from the compliance score, you'll see new icons for projects and OUs to identify their status:

Along with color-coded counts of projects under an OU (including projects in child OUs):

We also show unread notifications grouped by status: critical, warning, success, request, or informational. This helps you assess which notifications matter most.

One-Click Access

The dashboard isn't just about quick status assessment. It also provides instant native access to your cloud console. Just click one of the commonly-used cloud access roles on the Quick Cloud Access card and BAM, you're in.

We also provide one-click access to the org chart, along with quick routes to your favorite OUs and projects.

The bottom line? Our dashboard helps you navigate quickly. It'll get you where you want to go-- whether that's to see overspending projects or to log into your cloud console-- faster than ever.

Want to know the nitty-gritty details of each summary card? Check out our knowledge base article on the dashboard. You can also learn about dashboard setup in the my user settings article. Our docs are now open to the public, so you don't need to log in to see a breakdown of new features.

Log In Using a Custom External URL

The dashboard isn't the only customization feature we added! With the new custom external URL option, you can direct users to log in using an external URL that you specify. Just check the "Enable Custom Login URL" box on the SAML 2 IDMS creation or editing forms to enable this feature. Once you check this box, you can add your custom URL in the "Custom Login URL" field that displays.

Get More Info on Enforcements

We now let you add a description to your enforcements. We show this info, along with a new "Applied By" field showing who applied them, in the enforcements list. Together, these give you more context on an enforcement's application and purpose.

Share What You're Seeing in the Org Chart

A new "Copy to Clipboard" icon now shows on every OU and project's card within the org chart. This lets you copy a link to that specific spot, so you can easily reference and share exactly what you're seeing with other users.

For AWS Users

Specify Billing Report Type

A new field on the billing source creation and editing forms called "Billing Report Type" lets you limit data collected to the AWS Cost & Usage Report (CUR) only. This generates the data that we formerly collected from the Detailed Billing Reports (DBR) using only the CUR.

Easily Import User-Managed IAM Policies

You can now import customer-managed IAM policies from your AWS console. This lets you leverage your existing policies by using them in cloud rules and cloud access roles within cloudtamer.io. We indicate in the description field when the policies were imported, making it easy to track which resources are up to date.

For Azure Users

Import Azure Policy Checks and Attach Them Directly

You can now import Azure policy checks, and they'll be created in cloudtamer.io as compliance checks when you import the NIST 800-53 resources. The new process makes it easier to use Azure policies for compliance because you don't need to attach the policy to both a compliance check AND a cloud rule.

View Connectivity Status for Azure Accounts

We hate it when accounts won't connect and we can't figure out why, so we made it easier to troubleshoot. You can now view your Azure account's connectivity status on the overview tab, and you can troubleshoot issues for accounts that can't connect. You'll see an icon showing whether the tenant connection is active (green) or inactive (red) and the date that its status was last updated. For inactive connections, you can click the "Troubleshoot" link to access our knowledge base for tips on getting connected.
