To optimize your spend and make prudent financial decisions it is imperative to have accurate insight into your cloud spend at various levels of your organization in Kion. Spend reports allow you to see a breakdown of spending by project, resource, and accounts. You can even perform roll-up reporting to report on all projects contained in a given organizational unit (OU).

How to Pull a Spend Report for an Individual Project

  1. Navigate to the Project Overview screen.
  2. Select "Financials" at the top.
  3. Select the "Spend Reports" button.
  4. Configure the parameters of the spend report.
  5. Select "Generate Report".

The report will be generated according to the selected parameters. The spend view can be changed to show spend by project, service, account, cloud provider, tag, or resource. Results can also be filtered. This will give you even more insight into the composition of your spend.

How to Pull a Roll-Up Report for Project Descendents Within OUs

Sometimes, you may only want to load in the compliance checks for continuous monitoring without the preventative controls and IAM policies. To do this you’ll need to create a new cloud rule.

  1. Navigate to the OU Overview screen.
  2. Select "Financials" at the top.
  3. Select the "Spend Reports" button.
  4. Under "OU View", select "Current OU and descendents".
  5. Select the desired spend view.
  6. Configure the other parameters of the spend report.
  7. Select "Generate Report".

The generated report will display the values of all the descendent projects and OUs rolling up underneath the selected OU.

Multi-Cloud Financial Reporting

Kion's financial management features make it easy to understand and optimize your spending across multiple cloud providers. Kion provides rightsizing, instance reservation, and other recommendations. Continuous monitoring can identify neglected resources and automatically terminate them to eliminate wasted spend. And proactive financial guardrails allow you to freeze or terminate instances that exceed budgeted thresholds. Kion is a single platform to enable you to go farther, faster in the cloud.
