When first starting with Kion, it is very common to already have cloud accounts across various cloud service providers. Kion makes it easy to connect existing accounts across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud – whether that be one or many– so you can hit the ground running with your multi-account strategy. This removes a lot of the mundane grunt work of implementing best practices recommended by the cloud service providers themselves, such as the AWS Well-Architected Framework.

How to Connect an Individual Account

  1. Navigate to the "All Accounts" screen.
  2. Select "Add".
  3. Select "Connect existing accounts".
  4. Choose the cloud provider where the desired account resides.
  5. Select the account type (e.g., AWS Commercial, AWS GovCloud, etc).
  6. Choose to connect one account.
  7. Select the desired billing source.
  8. Select the desired account number.
  9. Select "Connect".

The connected account will now be found under the "Cache" tab on the "All Accounts" screen. From here, you can assign the account to an OU or project in Kion.

How to Add Multiple New Accounts

You may want to connect many accounts at one time and Kion can make this process very easy.

  1. Navigate to the "All Accounts" screen.
  2. Select "Add".
  3. Select "Connect existing accounts".
  4. Choose the cloud provider where the desired account resides.
  5. Select the account type (e.g., AWS Commercial, AWS GovCloud, etc).
  6. Choose "Import Multiple Accounts".
  7. Select the desired billing source.
  8. Select the linked role for the accounts.
  9. Select "Continue".
  10. Select the Organizational Units that contain the accounts or select the accounts individually.
  11. Select "Import Accounts".

The connected accounts will now be found under the "Cache" tab on the "All Accounts" screen. From here, you can assign the accounts to an OU or project in Kion.
