Adding New Accounts

Kion makes it easy to organize and grow your multi-account strategy for your cloud environment and implement best practices recommended by the cloud service providers themselves, such as the AWS Well-Architected Framework. Kion makes it easy to vend as many new accounts as you need, whether that be one or many.

How to Add a New Individual Account

When you only need to create an individual account, the process is very straightforward.

  1. Navigate to the "All Accounts" screen.
  2. Select "Add".
  3. Select "Create New Accounts".
  4. Choose which cloud provider you'd like to create the account for.
  5. Choose the type of account you would like to create.
  6. Select "Create One Account".
  7. Select the desired billing source.
  8. Name the account. This will be the name for the account in both Kion and the selected cloud provider.
  9. Assign the account to either a project or allocate it to the cache to use later.
    1. If assigning to a project, select the project you'd like to assign the account to.
    2. Select the desired start date for the account.
  10. For AWS Accounts, opt in or out of adding to an AWS Organizational Unit (OU).
    1. If opted in, select the desired AWS OU.
  11. For AWS Accounts, opt in or out of including spend from linked GovCloud Account.
  12. Select "Create".

How to Add Multiple New Accounts

You may want to create multiple new accounts at one time and Kion can make this process very easy.

  1. Navigate to the "All Accounts" screen.
  2. Select "Add".
  3. Select "Create New Accounts".
  4. Choose which cloud provider you'd like to create the account for.
  5. Choose the type of account you would like to create.
  6. Select "Create Multiple Accounts".
  7. Select the desired billing source.
  8. Select "Continue".
  9. Name the account. This will be the name for the account in both Kion and the selected cloud provider.
  10. Select "Add Account" to create a new row for an additional account.
    1. Repeat until the desired number of accounts is reached.
  11. For AWS Accounts, opt in or out of adding to an AWS Organizational Unit (OU)
    1. If opted in, select the desired AWS OU.
  12. For AWS Accounts, opt in or out of including spend from a linked GovCloud Account.
  13. Select "Create New Accounts".
